Welcome to Comrade Kejani.
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Comrade Kejani website, platform, and related services (“Comrade Kejani”, “the platform”, “we”, “us”, or “our”).
By accessing or using Comrade Kejani, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the platform.
These Terms are intended for users of Comrade Kejani in Kenya and should be read together with our Privacy Policy and other policies or guidance we publish on the platform.
Comrade Kejani is a student housing platform that helps people discover accommodation and connect with landlords.
We provide tools and information that may include property listings, search and discovery, communication, housing enquiries, and support.
Unless we explicitly state otherwise, Comrade Kejani is not the landlord, property owner, tenant, or party to the rental agreement between a student or tenant and a landlord.
Any tenancy, lease, rental, payment, deposit, or other agreement relating to a property is generally between the relevant tenant and landlord.
You must provide information that is accurate and not misleading when using the platform.
You are responsible for making sure that your use of Comrade Kejani complies with applicable law.
If you create an account, you are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for activity carried out through your account.
Do not create an account for another person without their authorization, impersonate another person, or provide false information.
When searching for or enquiring about accommodation, you agree to:
A listing on Comrade Kejani does not remove your responsibility to assess whether a property is suitable for you.
Landlords who list properties on Comrade Kejani agree to provide information that is accurate, current, and not misleading.
This includes information such as:
Landlords are responsible for having the legal authority to advertise the property they list and for complying with applicable laws and rental obligations.
Landlords must not use Comrade Kejani to advertise property they do not have authority to offer, misrepresent a property, or deliberately provide misleading information to prospective tenants.
If a property is no longer available, landlords should update or remove the listing promptly.
Comrade Kejani may review, moderate, update, restrict, or remove listings where we reasonably believe that a listing is inaccurate, misleading, inappropriate, fraudulent, or otherwise violates these Terms or applicable law.
We work to make housing information useful and trustworthy, but we cannot guarantee that every piece of information supplied by a user will always be accurate or remain current.
Where a listing contains information provided by a landlord or another third party, that information remains the responsibility of the person who supplied it.
Comrade Kejani may provide tools that allow students and landlords to communicate.
Users are responsible for what they say and share through those tools.
Do not use the platform to:
We may review or act on reported communications where necessary to protect users, investigate abuse, comply with law, or operate the platform.
Comrade Kejani does not ordinarily set the rent, deposit, lease terms, house rules, or other conditions of a landlord's rental agreement.
Those terms should be discussed and agreed between the relevant landlord and tenant.
Before paying or committing to a property, users should confirm:
If information in a listing differs from what a landlord later requests, pause and seek clarification before making payment.
Where Comrade Kejani provides an application feature, submitting an application does not automatically create a tenancy unless the relevant parties agree to the applicable rental terms.
Landlords may accept, decline, or request further information about an application, subject to applicable law.
If you need to change or withdraw an application, contact the relevant landlord and keep a record of any agreement reached.
Unless Comrade Kejani explicitly provides a payment service for a particular transaction, payments such as rent, deposits, or other rental charges are made directly between the relevant parties.
Where Comrade Kejani introduces a payment feature, additional terms may apply and will be presented before the relevant transaction is completed.
Users should confirm the recipient, amount, purpose, and applicable rental terms before sending money.
Comrade Kejani will never ask you to ignore agreed rental terms or make a payment through an unofficial channel presented as a requirement of the platform.
We encourage students and landlords to communicate directly and resolve ordinary rental disagreements between themselves where possible.
Where a dispute relates to the use of Comrade Kejani, a listing, communication, or a reported safety or fraud concern, you may contact our support team.
We may review relevant information and take action available to us, including restricting or removing content or accounts.
However, Comrade Kejani does not guarantee that it can resolve every dispute between a landlord and tenant or determine who is legally at fault.
Nothing in these Terms removes rights or remedies that users may have under applicable law.
Users should exercise reasonable care when viewing properties, communicating with other users, and making payments.
Do not ignore warning signs simply because a property appears on the platform.
Report suspected fraud, misleading listings, threats, harassment, or other safety concerns through the available Comrade Kejani support channels.
For an immediate emergency or danger, contact the appropriate local emergency service first.
You may not use Comrade Kejani to:
You may submit content such as property descriptions, photos, reviews, messages, and other materials.
You remain responsible for the content you submit and must have the necessary rights and permissions to provide it.
By submitting content to Comrade Kejani, you grant us a non-exclusive permission to host, store, display, reproduce, and use that content as reasonably necessary to operate, promote, improve, and secure the platform.
You must not submit content that is unlawful, fraudulent, defamatory, infringing, abusive, or otherwise prohibited by these Terms.
The Comrade Kejani name, brand, logo, software, design, content, and other materials provided by us are owned by or licensed to Comrade Kejani unless otherwise stated.
You may use the platform for its intended purpose, but you may not copy, modify, distribute, reverse engineer, sell, or commercially exploit our proprietary materials without authorization, except where applicable law expressly permits it.
Comrade Kejani may use or link to third-party services.
Third-party services may have their own terms and privacy policies, and Comrade Kejani is not responsible for terms or practices outside our control.
We may use third-party providers for services such as hosting, communications, analytics, authentication, security, or other platform functions.
We are continually improving Comrade Kejani.
Features may be added, changed, suspended, or removed as the platform develops.
We do not guarantee that the platform or any particular feature will always be available, uninterrupted, or error-free.
We may carry out maintenance, security measures, or changes that temporarily affect availability.
We may suspend, restrict, or terminate access to an account or remove content when we reasonably believe that:

You may stop using Comrade Kejani at any time.
Ending your account does not automatically remove obligations that arose before termination.
Comrade Kejani provides a platform for discovering accommodation and connecting people.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Comrade Kejani will not be responsible for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential losses arising from use of the platform.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful, including rights or protections that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited under applicable Kenyan law.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, you may be responsible for losses or claims arising from your unlawful use of the platform, your violation of these Terms, or your infringement of another person's rights.
Nothing in this section limits any rights you have under applicable law.
Our collection and use of personal data is described in the Comrade Kejani Privacy Policy.
By using the platform, you acknowledge that personal data may be processed as described in that policy and in accordance with applicable data protection law.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Kenya, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
Nothing in these Terms prevents a consumer or other user from exercising rights available under applicable law.
If you have a complaint about Comrade Kejani, please contact us first so that we have an opportunity to understand and address the issue.
Where appropriate, we will seek to resolve disputes through communication and other lawful dispute-resolution mechanisms before formal proceedings.
Nothing in these Terms prevents either party from pursuing rights or remedies available under Kenyan law.
We may update these Terms as Comrade Kejani develops, our services change, or legal requirements change.
When material changes are made, we will update the effective date and provide additional notice where required.
Your continued use of the platform after updated Terms take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms to the extent permitted by law.
